As we all know, our university started squeezing all midterms to one week in the calendar year a couple semesters ago while we were studying online during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time; dealing with the midterms' stress was a bit easier since our instructors put less weight on our midterm exams and more on assignments and quizzes. However, ever since returning to campus, the same policy of doing all midterms in one week has remained while increasing the weight of the midterms. Personally speaking, I took four exams in two days last week which left me with almost no time to study for two of those exams. It is really stressful knowing that I will be having two exams in one day with each costing me 20 grades of the total grades and having to sacrifice one of them for the other. I know this topic has been brought up before and the statement I have heard repeatedly from instructors was: "if you study on daily basis you don't need to study before the exam". I do agree that following the materials on daily basis will definitely lessen the burden on our shoulders for midterms week but it's not enough and we definitely need to revise the materials before midterm exams to do well. I hope it's time that there is something to be done about this issue.
